Run #25

So we have a pretty big storm coming.  Luckily going to be rain, as my run after work today was in the 70s. T-shirt--HOT!  So I ran fifty minutes up Harps Mill and back.  Not too bad of a run, felt conditioning was an issue--really need to start cross training.

Run #24

Back to it today.  No ice.  Not too much cold.  Working on lean and pelvic rotation today.  See my cards?  Not too bad, just a run down the Greenway.

Run #23

After our ice storm yesterday, I worried if I would get to do my long run today.  I waited until longer, and for the most part, the ice was gone.  The first 6, picture showing the end of those 6, were icy in places, lots of running on the roads, but here, at the Falls of Neuse/Ravens Ridge intersection, I started seeing more slush and water.  Feared my feet would freeze in my Vibrams, but I splashed right through the slush.  I do think the ice did work my hip a little much...I cut the 14 mile run short, just to play it on the safe side. Actually had Kerry pick me up.

Run #22

Better run tonight.  Wasn't as tired, but boy, was it cold!  And windy!  Probably in low 30s, but 20s with wind chill.  Did a slow hill run with the hills in the neighborhood.

Run #21

Not too good of a run.  Just about a mile.  Wasn't feeling it.  Tired from family being down, busy at work, so I stopped.

Run #20

No picture today.  I went running with my wife this morning (Nana and PapPap stayed in bed with the girls!), and while I saw beautiful animals, a gorgeous sunrise, none of those could measure the beauty of my wife.  Inside and out, she's beautiful!  But inside, she spurs me on, sometimes by guilt, but she keeps me going, trying to be a better and better person.  For that, I thank her, with this insignificant post.  Truly, she is the reason I even run at all, and the reason then for this blog.

We ran down through Falls River and back the Greenway.  Since I didn't run after the long run last Monday, I was glad just to get a run in.  Not my best, but I kept a decent pace, and my toe warmed up by the end.  Ran early, so had those usual cramps.  Blah to them.

Run #19

My longest run to date--13.1 miles.  Wasn't too bad for the first 6-8 miles.  The last four were tough.  I was dead!  Lots of sweat, and as you can see in the pics, the bridges were pretty frosty.

Run #18

So 2nd run after toe/foot injury.  We are preparing for quite the storm, by Raleigh standards, 2-4 inches of snow.  Lots of rain when I went out, so I wore my TrekSports.  Lots of foot shifting at first, and that worried me, but pretty good run.  Had a 4 mile tempo run.
Mile 1-9:43--nice and easy, worried about the shoe shifting
Mile 2-9:08--definitely felt more lean, feeling good
Mile 3-9:21--had some hills, powered over them
Mile 4-8:46--lots of lean, felt it working

Run #17

Wow.  17 training runs already.  Lots of hesitation with this one.  I started slow, some toe pain, but then got better.  Did my time trial--4 laps at track in 9:30.  Pretty good.  Had some different pain in left foot, but recovered quicker.

Run #16--Cancelled!

Yup!  First injury.  I do not think it was from the run Saturday...but for most of the day Sunday my left foot hurt.  Similar to before I started using the foam.  Almost to the point I could barely walk on it.  So I skipped Monday's run...and it seems to be doing better.  I did do a strenuous bike ride around the Dump, down the Greenway.  We'll see Wednesday.

Run #15

Gummy Bear Explosion on Greenway
So a long run again today.  Probably went to fast early.  First four miles run at 9 minute mile.  But with the fog, I felt I was carrying along another 20 pounds of humidity.  Burned out shortly after.

Run #14

So another long weekday run with some lower leg work.  I guess the pelvis focuses are coming.  I had one time where I think I was doing it very well.  Just for a minute or so, then it was gone, but maybe this is getting there!

Run #14

A Little Dark Out There...
Yes, can you believe it...I did an early morning run.  Got up at 4:45 to do a 3 miler.  Not too cold, had my new orange Avia shirt on (thanks, Kerry!).  I did it!  Working with pelvic focuses.  Able to level up my pelvis, which is helping me feel better.  Still struggling with really knowing if my pelvis is twisting accordingly or not.

Run #13

End of a run, home is in sight!
So another day of ChiRunning.  I actually started off FAST on this 35-45 minute form interval run.  An 8:30 mile pace fast.  Yeah, my body just wanted to move today.  Balancing in the window of lean is good...I can feel that, although I do not have great control yet.  The pelvic forms are tough...I struggle with them.

Run #12

Looking to Perry Creek, Soccer Fields
Long 2 hourish run.  Went down Durant to the soccer fields, hopped on the Greenway, came back through Falls River.  Pretty good run overall--kept a decent pace throughout.  I usually fall apart at the end, and I still did a little, but not as bad. Keeping focused on the form focuses really does keep your mind off things.  Definitely need sustenance on these longer runs.

Run #11

Continuing the ChiRunning.  Two new forms, working on the hips and pelvis.  Felt the right method at times, and those felt good.  This is going to be tough though!

Run #10

ChiRunning in full effect!  I decided to abandon my other plan and start the ChiRunning plan.  I already do many of the ChiRunning methods, but now I will focus on all their forms.  Did a four miler down to the train tracks, through some neighborhoods.  Tough to be switching the forms, but all in all it felt pretty good.

Run #9

So first run of 2013.  After reading all the ChiRunning things, I attempted my first run with the metronome this morning.  Definitely can see where it can help focus me...although hills up and down are hard to pace yourself.  A little rain and cool on this January 1st.
