Run #8

Had a wet, cold run today along the greenway.  Found a bunch of friends, pretty close...as you can see in the picture.

Run #7

Yet another track workout.  Got in from PA, unpacked, and headed to the track.  3 800s on the schedule.  Much better than the last time.  Pretty neat, a family of four jumped the fence to play football as well.  I was reading the ChiMarathon book, and it calls for an 8 mile (32 LAP!) run for a timetrial.  Ugg!

Run #6

Kerry and I went on a run yesterday in the COLD.  Temp in the twenties, but no snow yet--that came later. I did twoish 1200s with an 800 in between.  Not too bad of a run.

Run #5

Longest run of training so far (although it felt short since I had been running longer).  Pretty good run...ran it hard, up Harps Mill, kept 9:30 pace.  Passed Kerry and the girls on Falls, THEY DIDN'T SEE ME!

Run #4

Just an easy three mile run in the cold this morning. Went down the Greenway.  Pushed a little more than running it easy, but still felt pretty good.

First Track Workout

First track workout and my picture didn't come through.  I ran down to the track behind Durant MS, jumped the fence, and completed two 800s with a 400 in between.  This track thing will be interesting throughout the training--I never really did any track workouts, but I can feel it working.  They are TOUGH!  Especially scaling the fence afterward.  We had some pretty high wind come through too, so as I rounded the corners on the homestretch, I ran right into it!

Run #2

Running along the Greenway
Just a slow and easy 3 miler down the Greenway today.  Lots of people out, as we approach the holidays.  Decent run, but lacking at end--winded from yesterday still.

Run #1

Running Through the Neighborhood
So here we go!  Training for the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon.  Today (or really yesterday by the time I recorded this) I completed my first practice run.  I kinda got off the schedule and instead of 1 minute hard, 5 minutes easy for 30 minutes, I did 30 seconds hard, 1 minute easy for 30 minutes.  Definitely a workout to kick my butt.  Just went through our neighborhoods and then out on Falls of Neuse.  Very excited to do this marathon.  Would love to really get a great time, like 4:45.
